Finally–nursery photos!

Porter’s early arrival really threw us off track. I didn’t have a bag packed for the hospital. We didn’t have meals frozen in the fridge to keep us fed during those first rough weeks (I had made some muffins and froze them a week or two before–that was it.) We didn’t have our baby shower yet so we barely had any baby clothes or supplies (in fact, our shower scheduled for April 25 by our students and collegues was cancelled all together so we never got to have a shower at all. We are still pretty sad about this.) And we didn’t have the nursery finished. Sure it was painted, the furniture was in place, and the crib linens were washed and ready to go but that was it. It was still lacking that homey feeling since the walls were bare and we just didn’t have stuff to fill it.
A couple weeks ago we finally got shelves up and hung stuff on the walls–much more cozy now. The closet is still filled with all sorts of crap, so I won’t show you that–but here are photos of our beloved nursery!

Taken from the doorway of our bedroom across the hall.

Finally you all get to see what color "Torchlight" is!

I painted a portrait of each animal on our bedding set. Aaron built the stretchers.

Taken from the window seat...

The tiger on the right isn't finished because that was the last painting and I wasn't finished when Porter arrived!
And this is where I give up posting photos because the photo uploader is getting weird (ugh.) But anyway the crib, mattress, changing table and pad are all what we bought in that sweet craigslist deal we found months ago (which also included a Diaper Genie, a Pack and Play, some waterproof mattress pads and a few newborn diapers.)
This room is definitely the most put-together room in our house! I have been trying to get photos in the morning when the sunlight is coming in, but that proved to be hard with a baby who has his own agenda! This is the best I could do for now.

Some of the captions seem to be cut off on these photos–sorry! I am trying to fix it!
What a beautiful room! Porter is lucky to have a mommy and daddy with such great decorating and art skills!
